The Collection

is based on the wind instrument collection of Karl Burri and includes other collections such as the flute collection of Ueli Halder and the wind instruments of the Einsiedeln monastery.

It comprises ca 1600 wind instruments and drums from three centuries. There are very rare objects, including classical horns and flutes, the prototype of an alto saxophone (1853) by its inventor Adolphe Sax, and some of the first instruments produced by Swiss manufacturers.
